The Amazingly Slow Death of Populist Latvijans

A definition of ‘communism’ begins from the premise that it ‘is the state of Nature-born human being from the time human beings began until now.
2A The Beginning
When the people (loi, Leute, ļaudis) of the Latvijan speaking language group in former Livonia, aided by German-speaking members of the early Moravian Church, began to separate themselves out of the undifferentiated mass of former serfs in Livonia, they began to perceive themselves as unique survivors of an ancient culture. Everyone was amazed how in a matter of a few decades the Latvian speaking people turned into a community in its own right.
Where did this community come from? There seemed to be no explanation for it. The Neochristian Catholics were amazed and disturbed. Yet if one looked with an open mind...:
–It would have been noticed that the Herrnhuters had to use all their skills to persuade the Livonians to leave the forests where they had taken refuge from the Great Northern War. Clearly the war among the elites and courts of Europe had frightened them badly. But if they were unwilling to leave the forests, the question arises: What skills did the Livonians posess to survive in the swamps that are sometimes found in the forest? Were such skills natural to them because the wood was their natural domicile and they were never meant to leave it?
One is unlikely to find an answer, unless one turns to a muddled and perplexing story in the New Testament—the story of two fish feeding in a ‘remote place’ five thousand people. The heretofore explanation about this being a miracle is meant to mislead. Something more substantial is behind the story. Is it that Jesus led his followers to a wood where he knew a lake abundan in fish? Those of us who know the wood also know that a wood can be abundant in mushrooms, edible roots, and is a place where the body of a tree will provide material for shelter.
For all the disbelief such an explanation may generate, the explanation is not implausible . The Herrnhuters too were of a people of the wood in German-speaking lands. They had been chased from the wood by the kilns that baked bricks and consumed wood in enormous quantities to build cities for the violent breed that had inherited Earth to live virtual lives and were to be sustained by money. It is not that paper is evil as such, but when turned into money, it brings evil by way of the exploitation one has to engage in to get it.
In fact, the mystery of the origin of Latvijans was right before everyone’s eyes—if one suspends one’s credulity in modernity, and dismisses the story of Virgin Galactic as an outrageos propaganda story by the elites.
One can accept such a point of view, except.... The problem is that after the Herrnhuters persuaded the Livonians to leave the forests, the cities kept growing, the forests kept diminishing, the fields of grain were becoming ever more expansive factory floors, and everyone was becoming ever more disembodied, spiritual, and persuaded by the efficacy of creative violence.*
*The author would never have come to this ‘wierd’ perspective had his own forebears not been of Herrnhuter persuasion, who in the course of time disengaged from their roots. When (over a century ago) the author’s grandfather decided to become a millionaire, he started the “countryside to city back to countryside” cycle all over again. With the advent of WW2, the fortune he made was lost, and the millionaire’s descendants were forced to discover the countryside again. Alas, by now the forests are gone, and the author is doing penance by replanting his property with trees.
The entropy that has overtaken society ever since it was forced out of the wood and into the city, goes unnoticed by a society that has persuaded itself that the evolution of violence is progress. Economic fascism is widely practiced and no alternative is imagined.
But if fascist gold will not save, what will? Perhaps, we need to reimagine what the Herrnhuters and Livonians, both, understood, yet were forced to abandon. Does not the story about the fish tell us that the Herrnhuters are a remnant of a Christianity that originated in the wood?
In the now underrated ‘wild’, human consciousness saw not only the nature of its own spirit, but saw spirit in the running water in the brook, in the trees swaying in the wind, in the animals that ran and flew about. Today however the prejudices reigning in our ‘progressive’ academias ridicule this perspective as animism. As the iconoclasts say: We embrace no tree before we fell it; we kiss no pig before we kill it. I recall a small boy from Boston once saying, when he saw a sow suckling her young at a farmstock exhibit in Lexington, a town nearby: “Yech! Gross!”
2B A Beginning Undone
But had not the rejected and abandoned Latvians and Germans survived because a conscious spirit (perhaps hiding in their stomachs and throats) encouraged their survival by teaching them how to help one another? Had the Spirit not taught them survival skills by manifesting Itself through sacrificing Itself?.Had their survival not made them perceive that all Life was of One Soul, and that that Soul could be captured only if one was willing to merge one’s life with it as the Sacred King become God had done? Volunteering to die of hunger when hunger struck was a time honored way to die on behalf of one’s own and the community.
The Livonians had no difficulty in identifying with the Herrnhuter mindset. Such identifying with them was also done by the American Indians—as this link tells us.
The revival of native Livonians was soon perceived as a danger by the ruling powers that had been hard at work (for many centuries) to define themselves as the true and only heirs of humankind. In Livonia the usurpers of native lands were mostly German barons, whose forebears had come to occupy the land from about the 12th century on. The barons had managed to turn ancient Christianity into a science (of sorts) by turning their physically less capable siblings into priests and nuns and heads of monasteries and churches. The sermons on Sundays of the less fortunate elites was not unlike the messages from our mentally circumcized militarists, whose message is of Catholic cum universalist/ globalist ideology. Though this ideology (because of the material rewards it brings to those who serve it) often succumbs to corruption and becomes subject to ‘reform’, it never changes in fundamental ways. For example , the ‘reformist’ Lutheran Church of northern Europe that succeeded the Catholics (following the Westphalian—peace treaty of 1648) did not renounce the ideology of ‘the Church Invincible’ anymore than it was renounced by the Puritan Cromwell and the Anglican Church. The Great Nothern War, of which the Livonians were the most bloodied victims, was consequent to a Swedish Lutheran king, Gustavus Adolphus, attempting to conquer Russia and Russian counter attack*.
*One may argue that the Swedes were but continuing a war that had been initiated by their Viking forebears, when they briefly captured the Black and Caspian seas region by means of shallow draft ships-boats that came down the riverways of Danube, Dniepr, Don, and Volga .
Following recovery of self-consciousness, Latvijans were—unfortunately—not willing to live in harmony with the land, but began to imagine that the Latvijan speaking community might become an autonomous national community in a federation of nations or a sovereign nation. There began a cultural movement that attempted to prove that Latvijans were a people of ancient origin. While there are several paths that lead to such ancient origins, the one chosen by the Latvijans was that of folk poetry and song. The Latvijans called these ‘dainas’. Dainas are short stanzas, which remind of Japanese haiku poems. The collectors of dainas separated the short stanzas from the body of the song and read them as poetry. With time, dainas became symbols of Latvijan identity for the state of Latvija, established in 1918.
Alas, a hundred years later, few Latvijans know more about the dainas than having heard of them. Few can sing them, and even fewer can recite them. Only one Latvian poet, the nationalist (and arguably communist) Rainis, took the poetic form of dainas seriously. The poet’s vision of Latvians as an authentic culture never rubbed off the Latvian government which stayed loyal to the Lutheran sponsored Catholic ideology of globalized fascism. Among Latvian elites, seeing how it was inherited from German barons*, state craft has remained a skill subordinate to personal careers.
*The name ‘baron’ may come from the French speaking Belgian territory of ‘Waloonia’ by way of shift in the pronunciation of consonants, re: W=B and L=R., and may have its origin in the French Duchy of Bouillon that existed from the 10th to the 18h centuries. Interestingly, the Latvian flag may pwe its origin to the colors of the duchy.
The history-denying and reactionary ideology of the fascist* Latvian government proves three things: a) either the story about dainas is make-believe; b) the ‘renewed’ post Soviet state (since 1991) has no interest in Latvijas culture or history; or c) the origin of Latvijan identity is altogether sourced in ‘other’ events, in which case the Latvijan identity is not of its people but of the presumption of a government that knows no better. In effect, government is the authority that tells people who they are and who they are to become. Given that the borders of Latvia are open to Nato occupation, the forordained fate of Latvia (since 1991) is to become little more than additional territory to a federated European Union.
*The word ‘Fascist’ just as the word ‘Communist’ is much maligned. Essentially ‘fascist’ defines a community of cities that have divided a country into two factions—the Haves and Have Nots. The fascist Haves are ever trying to make others (mostly people of the countryside) become Have Nots, who they then rename Communists. Currently ‘globalization’ is the preferred ideology by means of which the Haves hope to turn the rest of the world into Have Nots. In the author’s country of Latvija, the Haves are the government. The Haves do all the talking. The government has practically eliminated independent thought and writing in favor of hackery.

1 The Return of Communism*
*Communism is not as Encyclopedia Britannica has it, “...a political and economic doctrine that aims to replace private property and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control of at least the major means of production...”. Such an outdated definition comes of the American and British capitalist order of things. A definition of ‘communism’ begins from the premise that it is ‘the state of human being from the time human beings began until now.
The United States believes that it is the victor of what is called the Cold War with the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union, a state that believed it would result in a communist civilization (based on Marx’s concept of it as based on ‘workers’ needs), collapsed in 1991.
Though this author is from the environment of a capitalist state and the city, and is a victim of the Soviet State [(eight of his extended family were sent to the gulags, of who two (father and maternal grandfather) were executed, and another two died of disease and hunger (a cousin and godmother), and mother, siblings, and himself were abandoned to fate], he (in light of what followed the collapse), nevertheless, regrets the demise of the Soviets. As shocking as it may be for the neo-liberalist camp to hear, there are a number of justifications for such a perspective.
First is that the capitalist system had so corrupted the author’s extended family circle that some of its members (godmother and her heirs) determined to survive WW2 and its aftermath by denying material help to needy ‘other’ family members, thus, expressing preference for a form of cannibalism*. The second is that with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the pain of systems change to those who survived it, resulted in naught but futher pain and loss, when the renewed ‘free’ government turned out to be a promoter of a watered down form of ‘democracy’. The loss of the positive changes brought about by the Soviet system became a source of material and psychic nightmares commonly expressed among Latvijans by overconsumption of alcohol**. The third is that official history taught in school is but the cover that covers up the book writ by experience, and ever fails to reveal the undercurrents that contradict official history. The author’s blogs (including this book) represent his nosing about the realm of official lies taught by school books.
*Canibalism or eating of human flesh is a capitalist bugaboo that fosters revulsion against a natural tendency of Life to offer itself as sacrifice to its successor generations. Such ‘cannibalism’ is most clearly noticeable in springtime, when small birds rush out of the bush and trees and fly across a country road to protect their nests and fleglings from our monster Toyotas and BMWs driving by. One can also see it, when grandparents deny themselves in order to help their children raise their grandchildren.
**Alcoholism is a ‘silent’ and self-destructive form of protest against the rule of a ‘free’ government. The ‘free’ American government used alcohol to kill the spirit of the native American Indians. The ‘free’ Latvian government uses it to kill the spirit of the Latvian community it taxes and lives off.
The author’s thesis about the death and rebirth of Communism starts from an exclamation made by those who experience a catastrophy in which many people are killed. The pain of the event and loss is so great that many survivors are often heard exclaim: “I wish that I had died in their stead!” The author, too, has on occasion exclaimed this. It is out of such exclamations that is born the conviction that the original form of government was that of the Sacred King: He who must die in order to persuade the community to forgive large and small slights and hold the peace among its own.
Nevertheless, when the opportunity came, the Sacred King was overthrown by the executive king. As a consequence there began a thousand years of a ‘would-be Reich’ of capitalism. Capitalism destroys Nature (by substituting herders with hunters), the order of God, and substituted for it the rule of factories, cities, and ‘reason’. The substitution could be accomplished only through repression and extensive use of violence over countryside and all that is of Nature. The motto of Capitalism is not ‘Love one another!’, which is the motto of the people/loi living in wood and field, but ‘The cruelest survive!’ The “ ceremony of innocence” is faked without regrets.
Though Capitalism (and privatization) has been the dominant social force for over a thousand years, unbeknownst to Capitalism, it was undermined by the people of Nature (in spite of their seeming weakness)—the creatures the Elites of the capitalist system do not love, even if (as a matter of political correctness) they no longer despise them. Thus began a thousand years of Civil War between the loi and a cancerous offshoot known as ‘Government of and by Elites’. For over a thousand years the Elites have been winning the war. The winning tactic of the Elites was simple: they encouraged the unloved loi to over breed by oversexing them with cheap pornographic publications or personal example, by encouraging licentiousness, even as they increased the pleasure in sexual license by declaring it sinful and a moral transgression. In effect, moral transgression like alcoholism became a form of self-destructie resistance against Capitalist oppression. With their armories filled with swords and gunpowder the Elites then discredited gift giving, over-taxed the surplus population it had raised, and forced the loi to take flight from the countryside and seek refuge in the city—as if this were to their benefit.
After a thousand years of ever increasing taxation, taxes have depleted Nature to such an extent that Nature has begun to fight back: it refuses to give of itself anymore by having no more to give. Elite plans to build a Reich of perpetual Virtual Reality have begun to flash crash. Prophecies of saints (self-sacrificial kings once) are coming true: the realm of Nature is reasserting itself. The populations of cities, cancerous growths encouraged by capitalist surpluses, have no less egalitarianist expectations than the loi of the wood and field once had. This phenomenon (the presumption that communism in nature and the city results in a similar man-creature) is a feature of human nature that under certain conditions turns city dwellers into anarhists. Such anarchists are a paradox to Elitist expectations. When the Elites can no longer sustain cities, the cities (intellectually bankrupt in that they do not realize and cannot imagine what ails them) are turning against them. Neither piles of gold nor nuclear bomb proof bunkers will keep the Elites or their system safe. Capitalism, even when secured with a ton of gold and a computer filled to the ceiling with bitcoins or etheriums will not save.

It has come to be that the atheist-controlled community of government has become the fake Godhead over the community of Nature. Likewise, government has made itself to become the People.

Last week I had the displeasure of viewing a link that proves yet again that the mindset of urban humankind is focused on a Virtual and unsustainable reality. The sociologist (in the link) who is giving the talk on ‘religion’ clearly does not know anything about religion (and he is not the only such sociologist), yet sells his ideology as if he were an envoy sent from Gomorrah, as if death is the force that rules, and he is the one chosen to judge the past and laugh off fake news.
True, the Gomorrahn could point at my EC606/Addendum, push his finger at me, and say that only a self-serving maniac is mad enough to claim that God originates in the effort to form humankind’s early government, which was of Sacred Kings (because they sacrificed their lives for their communities), and call them Gods*.
*In Norse mythology God is known as Jod/Yod. This is because the consonant J may on occasion also be pronounced as G. This drift of consonants was partially stopped with the replacement of the spoken word by the written word. A similar misfortune befell the word ‘gans’/Yans (John, Jon, Huan), meaning herder. The name of the Latvijan Gans Festival was changed at a late date to ‘Jahnyi’, and today virtually no one can imagine that the Festival was ever called other, or that the fires lit in the evening were once lit to scare off wolves not to for kids to jump over.
I may respond by pointing out that those who wrote the Bible (Genesis 6) also were ‘mad’ enough to write that “the sons of God” married “the daughters of men”, and millions have read the words and have not been put off by them. In effect, when the Bible was written (most of it during the Middle and latter part of the Middle Ages) a good portion of humankind was in its heart of hearts still living in the wood and was not persuaded that government conducted “democratically” (by warriors and oligarchs) is anything but a sleight of hand guaranteed to fail. The ‘Johns’ or ‘gans’ who herded elks and wore elk or wolf skin mantles [in ancient Egypt they (2) wore leopard skins] to better impress their authority on their livestock. The kingdoms of old used to guarantee for themselves the existence of God by putting the life of their Kings in escrow. Today’s humankind (ensconced in the city and with tendrils of asphalt sucking up the lifeblood of the countryside) puts in place of an escrow a ‘tactical’ nuclear shell in the bore of a howitzer. The ‘canon’ (a word with a couple of meanings) is secularism’s guarantee that any Sacred King who attempts to rise from the ashes will be killed by those who guarantee us democracy*.
*A quote from Mao Tse-Tung (Little Red Book, p309): “In the sphere of theory, destroy the roots of ultrademocracy. First, it should be pointed out that the danger of ultrademocracy lies in the fact that it damages even completely wrecks the Party organization and even weakens or completely undermines the Party’s fighting capacity, rendering the Party incapable of fulfilling its fighting tasks and thereby causing the defeat of the revolusion. Next, it should be pointed out that the source of ultra-democracy consists in the petty bourgeoisie’s individualistic aversion to discipline....” It should also be pointed out that while Mao Tse-Tung erred (following Marx, Lenin and Stalin) by calling for a revolution on behalf of the ‘workers’ instead of the people of the countryside, the bourgeoisie is of the cities where the plague of Virtuality rules. In Mao’s imagination the Party stood for the authority of a King. One of the lessons of so-called Industrial Revolution is that it is a particularly viscious intrusion of fake reality into the Real. Fortunately, it is but a temporary intrusion; unfortunately, it will end with many millions dead.
Today the the state of terror that is necessary to maintain Virtual reality, is not limited to the Sacred King. By our day terror has been spread (‘democratically’) throughout society. Terror (of death) no longer grips only the heart of a King, but nests a sinister presence in the heart of everyone who lives in our time.
However, globalization of fear is a phenomenon not limited to the 21st century. In the 20th century philosopher Walter Benjamin described our time as being in a ‘state of emergency’. Such a time likely began when humankind was first divided into to two groups: the armed elites and disarmed commoners; and the elites wrote for themselves a new ‘catholic’ religion, and began to tax the commoners. Not surprisingly, the Catholics of neo-Christian fame ‘saved us’ and sent the gullible commoners Jesus to empathize with*. Neo-Christianity asked of Christians nothing more than to “feel good”—as the Cross mounted on helicopters whirls and drops them money from Pope Draghi in the sky.
*The book of Revelations mentions the number 144,000 , which is a numer no one quite knows the meaning of. Why is this? Most likely because the 144,000 are forgotten kings and Gods who gave their lives to their communities. John 15:13: “Greater love hath no man than this, than a man lay down his life for his community.” While most New Testament ‘translations’ substitute ‘community’ with the word ‘friends’, the difference in meaning is clear and suggests that ‘friend’ is a fake word willfully inserted.
What this author is adding to the equasion is that the real victims are less the workers (though they are indeed victims), but the people or what I call force de gens* [not force de loi (law)]. The word ‘loi’ may have once meant ‘people’—as the word Leute means in German to this day and lude in English (still in use in the 19th century)—who once upon a time lived off the economy of their own labor—the people of the wood, river bank, lake or sea shore, and field.
*Gens—a French word meaning people, but like the same word in Latvian, re: gans, meaning herder. In Latvian, too, ‘Jānis’ is no longer a name that means people, but denotes a mythic figure who returns home every Midsummer. This change in meaning of the word probably came about because in its prehistoric use the word had a sacral meaning, which Catholic Christian clergy could not tolerate. Thus, in the long ago the words the English sang on their Midsummer festival were: “Summer is icumen in, lude (not loude) sing all sing (not cookoo)”. Uhja = Luhja = lihgo in Latvian. Summer is icumen in,/ lude sing alle uhja! It is likely that in Old Latvian the word ‘uhja’ meant song. Today the word is but an exclamation, generally used in response to someone swearing, re: “Uhya, uhya!”; meaning (sarcastically) “That is some song you are singing!”
