*In
my native language of Latvijan, ‘kusa’ means pubic hair. If we apply Grimm’s
Law of consonant shifts, we may also read the word as ‘Chusha’’ or ‘Chucha’,
which in Latvian means sleep. A Latvian folk song sings: “Chuchi guli līgaviņa
uz manām rociņām...” Generally this is interpreted as a husband singing to his
bride and telling her to sleep in his embrace. However, with Grimm’s Law the
words suggest that a male lover is asking his female lover to lay her ‘boat’
(līgaviņa=laiviņa, rieviņa) on his hands. In English, the word ‘cushion ’, is sometimes referred to as
‘cush’ (from French < Latin < Hindi) which is the mound of Venus or, depending how
frank the company you keep,.self-consciously and rudely ‘my hams’, ‘my behind’.
It
did no good for God to expell Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. The groping
that God had observed in the abode of His creation got worse by the time Lot
and his wife Edith came to live in Sodom and Gomorrha, New York, or Los
Angeles. Eve had hardly arrived at a Holywood cocktail party, when a movie
director offered her a role in a movie called “Sexting For Profit” if she but
came to his office and agreed to lay herself on his desk.
However,
when Eve, still a naïve country girl from Tartary, pointed out to the director
that God’s instructions had not been about sex (which was a cityfolk invention
for the sake of city politics) or apples, but about not cracking hazel nuts
with one’s teeth, the Holywood director replied: “But if I call them boobes you
strut, the Lesbian Political Correctness Police will call for my arrest. On the
other hand, if I call them boobes ‘apples’, no one will be the wiser.”
“No
wonder you have broken teeth and are ugly,” answered Eve and left his company.
How did God get it so wrong? How
did ‘pleasure’, created by God to make the creation of children a pleasure,
turn into an anal sex festival? Evidently God did not think of birth control,
but was such a genius that He let man do the thinking for Him and discover
‘free thought’. Clearly, God outsmarted Himself, and has to think again.
The problem appears to be that
when the People of the wood are transferred to the city, they are not capable
of distinguishing between the psyche that posessed them in the wood and the
psyche that came to posess them when its primary reference becames the city. Moreover,
the shift from the reality of Nature to the reality of the city was slow enough
to make one seem like the other. Because the Populist God of the wood was taken
posession of by the People of the city over a period of several centuries, it
did not enter the People’s mind that in the city they perceived things
differently. The acclimation was so smooth that no one could tell that there
was a difference. Neither Marx, Lenin, nor Stalin recognized the diference
between a country dweller and factory worker.
Nevertheless, there is a
difference. It manifested itself in the early years of the 19th century in the anti-wage
earners movement of women in the mill town of Waltham, in the state of
Massachusetts in America. Interestingly, this brings up the question of whether
the story about Eve being created of Adam’s rib ought not be reversed. Even a
superficial glance at Adam proves him to be at a remove from Nature, whereas
Eve, by virtue of motherhood, is inseparable from it. While the diference
between female and male went largely unnoticed when both made their home in the
wood, the male or virtual nature of cities cannot be overlooked. In fact, a
mentally ill ‘scientist’ has just propounded that Artificial Intelligence (aka
AI or Al) may
replace humans of Nature. A Populist God responds: You betcha!... there
will be comeupance! We’ll all be turned back into babies and given a rubber
teat to suck.
Most everyone realizes that
America was discovered after Europe had become obsessed with cities, and the
world over cities replaced the wood as the Peoples primary residence. Following
the Black
Plague, a disease inspired by the male dominated cities, the
wood was not restored, but apparently only increased male wilfulness, which
used the occasion to confirm the indestructability of the city. The result was
that cityfied Europe celebrated the transition from wood to city with what it
called a Reformation. The
Reformation cleared up some of the ambiguities of the Catholic imposed Great Schism
that initiated the destruction of Nature and wood by substituting these with Virtual
Reality that encouraged further development of the city. The Reformation was
like the segment
of a bridge.(built recently) that attempts to reconnect the gap
between the East and the West. Those who remember something of history know that
the Great Schism was begun a thousand years ago.
By the 15th century
most lands in Europe had noticeably lost their forest cover (largely due to brick
making), and towns were on their way to becoming cities. Taxation
in Western Europe by means of animal pelts (better known as fur
trade) was ending, what with the taiga becoming the next great
animal slaughter house. This was due to agriculture becoming a more lucrative way
for merchants to grow rich. Though peasants were revolting against enslavement
to the plow, the powers-that-be wanted to keep the cities growing. St. Acquinas’s
Reason had
rationalized the imposition of Virtual reality (it was then called ‘faith’) on
Nature to the point it was no longer challenged. Paradoxically, it was challenged
and replaced by the reasons of Calvin, the latter who was able to idealize
reason to the degree of purity that it came to be called Puritanism.
Puritanism represents a degree of idealism not imagined when town was but a fort
in the wood. Puritan reason soon metamorphosed into secularism.
The 15th century was the
time when Baba Yaga and her mushroom eating habits were put an end to. With citybred
Calvinist idealism
hitting the roof for the first time (following a severe dip, it is hitting another
‘monetarist’ peak today), no one could imagine that the amanita muscaria was
the ancient tool for teletransporting the human mind from one space-time
continuum to another or that the physical universe could indeed contain several physics.
With idealism and ‘faith’ at a
peak, the materialist model of the universe was adopted by city governments as an
absolute. Mt. Venus became Mt. sans Kusa. The door to a multi-universe was then
shut by self-righteous governments. Not
surprisingly, the government of North America, which began as ‘a city upon a
hill’—now leads as an example of materialist self-righteousness.
Globalization is
waging war on God, because it has come to equate the city with the wood, the
factory worker with robots, and God with Government.
