EC 488 A Hiermalgamated History
Change the World! Think It Through! Do not Vote! Remember:
What if they declared war and no one came? Don’t go.

A Brief History of Prehistory 6

Hieros Gamos means Holy Marriage, and ‘hiermalgamy’ means a forced unholy marriage by secular authorities of people to governments through the act of taxation or other violent and unnatural join-tings or divorces.

If Marija Gimbutiene, the renowned Lithuanian archeogist, is correct and the Balts original home was along the shores of the Dnieper River and its lowlands, it ought to be evident that autocephalic govRmnt stems from the life style of the Balts, for whom—a forest people— autocephaly was a way to insure independence of their small communities, help them keep their traditions their own, and as a collective assure itself continuity through the charisma of a sacrificial King. Unfortunately, their present governments and elites have lost all connection with projecting trust, let alone as an absolute.

A similar autocephaly existed among the Six Nations of American Indians, the Iroquois, that Jefferson took as an example for the American govRmnt, which today’s Imperial Washington violently and insultingly rejects. We hear nothing of govRmnt led by self-sacrificial men, because the govRmnt (committed to perceiving life as a dead-end that may arrive before our eyes at any time) denies itself ‘soul’, which in former times dwelt in the liver of God. But our civilization denies that God is Psyche, which we are told not to see as anything else than transparent air. But it is Psyche that projects charisma, which used to manifest itself through—cannibalism if that is what it takes to make soul real. The vulgar images that our govRmnnt propaganda projects make goveRmnt led by a king unimaginable—though our own vulgarity is hard to beat.

The gravity of a self-sacrificial King centres on the empathy he/she exudes and their autocephalic communities extract during orgiastic festivals, when on a given day of the year, the sacred King or Queen go to their death. Generally, this ‘given day’ occurred on Midsummer (day or eve), an astronomically significant day, because it is when the Sun is at its highest point in the sky or night when it is at its shortest. While today the idea of cannibalism issues from the religious perception that  divinity dwells in every aspect of nature, which spirit then animates everyone (male and female) with a spiritual erection (expressed by a word of endearing: kalado*: greening).  Such a divine-being was the Sacred King. Following his self-sacrifice, his liver (not his entire body) was eaten to partake in the divinity (God, too, must die to prove Himself equal to human courage). This tradition was taken over by hunters, who prized the liver of their victims, especially of a wild boar or stag.

When people lived in the wood, Midsummer’s Eve communicated its presence by fires lit and raised high either on mountain tops or made of a stork’s nest (or the imitation of one), raised on a pole. Arrows with torches of petrified but flaming amber attached to their tips were sent to ignite the underside of such a sun born of the night.

In the western part of Latvia (Kurland), the stork is still called ‘svetulis’. If the word were to be spelled with an ē, instead of an e, svētulis comes to mean ‘the holy one’. The reason it is written with a short e is because Catholic Christianity did not wish that St.-Orks nests were offered to the Sun (feminine gender) every Midsummer’s Eve, because that would keep the proto-Christian sacred tradition alive for too long. Instead, the Church taught that Sacred King John, came but once in all eternity, and changed his name from John (aka D’Ionysus) to Jesus (the latter from ‘ezel’, aka Jeze-bella (the mare of an ass). It is no accident that Jeze rides into ‘Jerusalem’ on a donkey that ever follows his erection, the goal of which is a Virgin, ever out of sight, ever but in the mind’s eye.

Epistemologists ought be interested that the Latvian name for ‘stork-Storch’ (English and Germani) is ‘stārķis’’. If we remember that the consonant L began to be pronounced in late Middle Ages as an R, we will understand how ‘stork’ came from the word ‘stolk or Stolch’. In German ‘stolz’ means proud, erect, dignified—which is what the bearing of storks projects. Going back into the past further still, the word derives from a word for divine love and refers to the Sacred (Saintly) King and Queen of the Wood, both of whom—because love and saintliness are so vulnerable—guard it in the niche of their laps from time immemorial.

Somewhat analogous to the placement of our human sexual organs is the story of the Promethean myth, which stands for the fate of the Sacrificial King, who must sacrifice his liver every time he comes to rule, because while Gods and men are, both, born of the same mother, ever since the arrival of taxation, they must live in a divided society: one of elites, one of the impoverished. Prometheus closes the gap between the two by suffering the loss of his liver, which stands for his life. Prometheus is, so to speak, the priest of Hieros Gamos or Sacred Marriage, because only through his self-sacrifice can he join opposites:

The joys of love (Plaisir D’amour) ne’re quickly do depart,
Its sorrows keeper to a lifetime is bound/blessed/doomed.

All three words (bound-blessed-doomed) make sense, but only ‘blessed’ or ‘doomed’—depending on which one we choose—tell us whether our prize is everlasting joy or sorrow.

* Kalado—we need to change the consonant K to S, thence the word will read as salado, re salad. The sprout (or salad) of an unfolding plant was in ancient times thought of as erectile tissue, which is why the Balts thought of an erection as that of an unfolding fern that was said to come to bloom on Midsummer’s Eve or Johns Night. Equally the sprout of a cucumber belies its later phallic shape by originating as an image that presents female erectile tissue. ‘Salado’ may, by means of pareidolia be easily translated to ‘karalo’, which echoes to the word ‘carol’ or ‘karol’, i.e., King. The arrival of western Christianity, which was controlled by secular forces, changed tbe choral shout: “Kaledo, kaledo!” (Karel! Karel! King! King!) to “Ligo! Ligo!” which is represented by the image of a swing , which by the magic of secularism has became  our pornographic, f*ck.

Eso’s Chronicles 222 / 8
Fascist Autarkies (8)
© Eso A.B.

In the preceding blog, I asked by way of a quote if a flood of words can “…cleanse the sordid and polluted Earth...”?

Up until the ‘true democratic’ government unleashed the NSA https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/10/polls-continue-show-majority-americans-against-nsa-spying to abolish privacy and intimidate uncensored thought on the internet, there were people who believed this was possible even if the ‘populist’ contributions from the ‘underground’ (a la Gogol’s “Dead Souls” http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/232932.Nikolai_Gogol ) were almost intolerably vulgar. Yet, the internet can be controlled to the ends of making a point if the platforms are willing to control excessive vulgarity. As everyone ought to know, vulgarity may be used to inhibit the evolution of a thread of thought and destroy creative communications.

It was Marx who coined the phrase about “brave words” used by the petty bourgeois “about freedom in general”. This was said by Marx in the context of “private property [being] already done away with for nine-tenths of the population.” And while America has been a haven for the “private propertied”, in our day this exception has been turned against the bourgeois by the 0.01% of billionaires and millionaires (see: http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user5/imageroot/2013/10/Open%20Letter.jpg ). Nevertheless, in so far as words suggest potential action, “a waterless flood” may well be necessary to initiate action that may lead to cleansing.

To return to the subject of geopolitics, however, which is where opponents of federalisms and centralization of power may still have a role to play. Though verbally adept populists are turned to ‘sheeple’ by the intrusive vulgarity of dumbed down supporters of ‘individualism’ such as Madonna offering herself for a ‘naked lunch’ or Pussy Riot twittering crotches for the delectation of saints, perhaps there yet remain a crumb for the day of wrath.

The ‘democratic’ leaders of our era, dependent on the donations of the wealthy and  no longer needing the citizen who has no job or money on a planet exhausted of ‘free’ natural resources, believe that the solution to the problem of being human in a world dominated by power and violence is still to be sought in the continued corruption of the ideas of Rousseau http://www.iep.utm.edu/rousseau/  (18th century) and the French Revolution http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_did_Rousseau_inspire_the_French_Revolution  brought to its knees by liberal Capitalism  in combination with the best of all political systems, i.e., ‘democracy’ and individual rights in control of community interests. According to the best (?) academic and political minds, Enlightenment won a significant victory when during WW2 the opponents of Hitler’s Reich beat the Nazis into submission.

This may be so if the critics of fascism are right that a community’s interest in ‘progress’ without end forces it to find an enemy either within, without, or both. Finding an enemy justifies the presumption that ‘progress’ is a phenomenon without end or bounds experienced by all liberal societies. This was true when Nazi Germany, emerging from an economic abyss due to the imposition of war reparations, discovered the enemy in Jews, who were then mercilessly slaughtered because of the inability of the Nazi’s to find a rationale that for all of their trouble they were unable to end the social and economic crisis as an egalitarian society, but like all ‘good’ capitalist countries had recreated themselves in the image of a pyramid of wealth. When the enemy within the Nazi state no longer was enough of an excuse, it was found without in other states. Having lived the last months of WW2 in Weimar, not all that far from Buchenwald, I am aware of what a concentration camp does to those it blames for causing the ills of the national community.

Nevertheless, I have always been conflicted about the rights of a community and the trumping of these rights by vandals on behalf of liberal capitalism, individual rights defenders and crusaders such as Pussy Riot. With regard to the urbanites, who on the whole favor liberalism over traditionalism of the countryside, I belong among those, who in time of troubes wish to become absolutes rulers with powers to eliminate the evident centre of the infection—the city. In my opinion, the city excels as nature’s dictator ever since we’ve known that the marketplace of the city has its origins in the court of the castle of the first capitalist and is a whyfore why the people of the city, have tended to identify with its king or president.

What I find peculiar about the attitudes of urbanites is that contrary to fact, they presume to have the right to prior attention over rural people and nature.

This leads me to the question if a fascist state, one that (presumably necessarily) cannot escape seeking an enemy to survive is inevitable? To which my answer is a NO, the only reason for a YES being that it is ‘democratic’ rule that is predetermined to discover ‘endless progress’ to be among its political genes. Interestingly, ever since the rise of the Age of Enlightenment, the same ‘democracy’ has driven most European countries to fulfill themselves in a violent state.

Was then ever in Europe or anywhere else in the world a non-violent fascist state? The numerous nation communities in which Europe excels would lead one to conclude that indeed—at one time or another—this was so.

Yet here we have a completely non-democratic and mindlessly presumptions leadership of a presumed European Union telling all the nation states that are at Europe’s foundation that they must be working toward the elimination of their sovereignty for the sake of a centralized ‘federalized’ Empire that is to play second fiddle as a ‘regional’ power to an obviously failed and violent American Empire (or its offshoots in Russia and China).

I have presented the alternative ‘fascist’ state before; pointing out that such a state is the ‘autarky’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autarky . Of course, this alternative state is simply invoked as a dictatorship, with no consideration given to the fact that it is a static state rather than one with an inbuilt mechanism toward violence, dominance, and progress of a ‘democratic’ state.

An autarky solved the problem of violence by turning it inward rather than extroverting it as our crusading democracies do it. Everyone, who has ever studied anthropology or read the founding myths of ancient communities and cultures, knows that an autarkic community was ruled by a ‘sacrificial king’, the kings function being not only that of a ruler, but of a ‘sacrificial goat’, who dies for the sins that were expended on the community in order to maintain it viable, enduring, and peaceful.

NOT-VIOLENT TERROR
22 Terror and Awe

Every child is born expecting love and a breast full of milk. As we grow up, we discover that we do not cease expecting easy access to the breast, because it has come to represent—love. We also learn that love does not come easy, especially after we grow old enough to have to look out for our food and shelter. Some call it “scratching out a living”. We meet others, some of whom may look on us as of another species. If our teachers are without breadth and depth, we may learn to become the same. What started with a positive outlook may turn into a life with a minus (– 1).

In spite of the fact that we grow old and know that we have given back to the world little of what we expect from it, we do not cease to expect it—love. We wish to leave love behind us (as per Jesus’-John’s famous “love one another”), and have love to welcome us back to whence we came, through the door of the Big Zero into the world of -1.

The quantum jump or leap http://tinyurl.com/d3l7jo that we make when we make the transit from +1 and go through the Big Zero to –1 may seem like a mystery, but in approximate terms, it involves but

· – 1 + sexual contact between a man and a woman = passage
0 (a seesaw) through the hole of the Big Zero to possible conception;
· + 1 = conception, living as a fish within the womb of the mother;
· + 2 = emerging from the womb into the world of air;
· + 3 = discovering the mirror, memory;
· + 4 = beginning to walk and talk;
· + 5 = learning to live with others through reflecting;
· + 6 = learning to live our own story;
· + 7 = helping to maintain a community;
· + 8 = preparing for death and survival of death through cloning;
· + 9 = a return to – 1 (perhaps to what the Tibetans call Bardo http://tinyurl.com/c26upc ), and reconstruct from Nothing-Something (–) a Something-Nothing (+).
· +10 = it is probable that reconstructions from out of Nothing-Something differ from each other, because the ultimate goal of Isness is to reach self-awareness, not a different hairdo.

However, mothers experience their child’s “quantum jump” into life rather differently. Whatever the pleasures of the sexual act, many mothers have died in childbirth or experienced terrifying traumas because of the risks involved in giving birth. Of course, for those who survived giving birth to a child, it was a joyful and awesome experience. http://tinyurl.com/cfqegk Few women even today face childbirth without fear or terror. [For near-death birth experience http://tinyurl.com/c2qdr7 For near death experience (scroll to p. 217ff) http://tinyurl.com/c3gk7t ] These examples prove that terror is not necessarily the result of overt violent attacks, but comes with consciousness and begs us to accept the limits of the act of creation. John [Brown] moldering in his grave can only take us to the entry point; the rest has to come from our contribution in carrying the ball of creation forward.

How demoralized the consciousness that allows one to wrap one’s self in dynamite sticks and annihilate everyone around one. How demoralized the moral environment of those who fight such terrorists by vying among themselves over who kills more of them http://tinyurl.com/d9mr8s . This is what a Something-Nothing on the plus (+) side looks like. The moral degradation of the haves who hire such soldiers-terrorists makes it easier for us to see the polarization that military acts create. We begin to understand how violent terror delays the development of humankind from negation to Something, which accepts self-sacrifice as essential.

Self-sacrifice is essential if a community wishes to remain self-aware in body and spirit. If one sacrifices one’s self in the world of Nothing-Something or Bardo, one gives birth to awe, i.e., life. This is how Genesis 2:2 tells its “…and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” One may say, without contradicting Genesis, that after “he” had done creating, God died. Such was the assumption of ancient myths. http://tinyurl.com/de7avc We, the created, are in awe of Creation, whether by God or by evolution.

In whichever direction we pass through the 0, whether to – 1 or + 1, it involves sacrifice. From + 1 to – 1 means to die, like it or not. The body must succumb to the limits of matter. From – 1 to + 1 also means to take on the risk of death, but this time less by the time-traveler than the bearer of the traveler, the mother. The birth canal is the only tunnel with a light at the end of it.

When sacred kings died, they were like a mother giving birth. They were full of anxiety before the experience that they had committed themselves to, especially when the hour of delivery drew near. Unlike the common man, the king died conscious. This was leadership by deed (example). A slow death before a public eye, say, by not taking food http://tinyurl.com/c3yu72 , allows the witnesses (embodied by people coming to say good bye) to wonder over man’s (actually their own) will.

Unlike the common man, the sacred kings (Johns) stood before the altar in terror, but also in intellectual awe that their sacrifice—self-sacrifice under ideal conditions—maintains and at the same time repeats the act of creation of society. After they died with no one to witness whether they actually made it through the 0, the people, nevertheless, could only speak of the act with awe. As witnesses, they stand bonded to what they have seen. Strangely (to us, but perhaps not to the sacred kings), the witnesses went away certain that if their community ever needed their lives, they would take strength from the sacred king and join him in a like deeds.

NOT-VIOLENT TERROR
13 The Unmaking of Jesus (cont.)

The story of the murder of the Bogomil leader Basil by the Byzantine Emperor Alexius I is a story well known in the 12th century when it took place. It is not so today. Today many people are likely to be shocked to hear that what happened to Basil is a story that parallels closely to what happened to Jesus. There is a reason and explanation for this.

The story of Jesus was created around the story of Basil. The dreadful events that overtook Basil provided a ready available armature for the story for then emerging neo-Christian church founded by the Byzantine emperor Alexius I. Of course, the new story is reaches us not only inverted in the reasons for it happening, but the main cathartic events were changed from burning to being nailed to a cross. The reasons for these changes, too, are founded on the need to divert the public’s attention from what really happened.

Most likely these events happened under the rule of the Byzantine empire’s Emperor Alexius I. The Emperor felt compelled to change the story and found a new church and a new religion, for two main reasons.

1. The arch-Christian church, what we today derogatorily call the cult of “pagans”—of which Alexius his predecessors and I had been the sacred kings—had for many years felt alienated from their king. The people had once called their kings “the sacred king”. However, something increasingly unacceptable happened. For several consecutive generations the sacred king began to fail to fulfill his sacred function—which was to act the role of the kingdom’s founding father—by reenacting the founding violent moment by self-sacrificing himself. Since time immemorial, the founding moment (of death and miraculous rebirth) was celebrated during the annual solstice festivals. The festivals, one in winter and one in summer, generally went by their local name, but for the most part retained the root name of the sacred being: John, Yan. We see this practice in such names as Ivan Kapusta, John the Baptist, Yannukah, Hunnapu, Yohammad, and so on. Depending on the age of the sacred king (whether young or old), the length of his reign was determined by priests. Usually the agon, the moment of self-sacrifice, came with an obviously old age.

In any event, the sacred king of the Byzantine empire began to act increasingly as merely a king, that is to say, a man with a standing army who could and often did rob his people, his neighbors, aggrandized himself, and dictated what people should or should not do and think. In short, there occurred mutual alienation between the king’s and the people. Eventually, this alienation reached a stage, where it broke out into a civil war. As part of his war effort, the emperor needed to kill not only the Johns, the wandering priests of arch-Christendom, but also to replace their ideas with ideas of his own.

2. It is probable hat the alienation between the sacred king and the people began when the king began to use a number of the priests to the Sun, as not only his bookkeepers, but collectors of the gifts that the people donated to the temple-palace. These priests, were self-castrated devotees of the Sun, and, thus, not attracted to women for sexual reasons. This made them attentive workers and bookkeepers. Unfortunately, since the priests were such competent gift collectors, the sacred king soon discovered a way to have them collect more gifts than was customary. In time, the word “gift” came to mean “tax”.

At first, the tax was used to build grander temples, which then became the sacred king’s palaces, which of course soon no longer pretended to be temples. As the sacred king abandoned the temple for the palace, he became what today we call a temporal or secular man, an atheist as religiously devoted to materialism, as the sacred king had once been devoted to the aura of charisma that held the community under its umbrage. The temple prostitutes (women who wished to make the temple especially attractive as a place for leaving gifts) became part of the king’s harem. The “gifts” paid for a standing army, employed an increasingly large number of artists and artisans, and so on. Indeed, the king abandoned the ancient practice of self-sacrifice and began to seek ways to escape death altogether. This is what is behind the stories where kings and heroes go out on adventures to seek the magic plant (usually guarded by a serpent), the eating of which will give one immortality.

However,

3. The priests of Iananna (the Johns) learned not only how to do bookkeeping and collect taxes, they needed to invent writing to do so. And they did so. With the invention of writing, the castrates learned not only how to record old stories, but invent new ones. Some of the stories, which the priests invented, did not sit well with the king. He began to fear that they would take power away from him. This fear was the cause for discovering various ways by which to bind the priests closer to the palace and alienate them from the temple.

This is how there developed two factions of priests. One faction stayed with the people. These were the wandering preachers, the Johns. The other faction became known as “Jews”, most likely a word that was semantically connected to words for gifts and taxes. The word “jewel” comes to mind. The Jews necessarily became involved in palace intrigue, while the Johns remained of the people.
