14 Making
the Balts Disappear
Despite the many inaccuracies and
deliberate oversights with regard to the history of the Latvijan community and
nation, the post-Soviet Latvijan government has deliberately given undeserved
credibility to the shaky history written about Latvija. This history was
written during the first Latvijan republic (1918-1940).* While to some degree the
rushed history was due to the newness of the country and out of ignorance and
isolation that had been its preceding intellectual environment, one soon notes that
it is also a matter of expedient avoidance of the subject for domestic
political reasons.
*An even shakier
history called “The Birth of Europe” by a professor of medieval times, Jacques
Le Goff, Blakwell publishing, has been
endorsed by numerous officials of the European Union (EU), including several
members of the prestigious European Commission (EC). Professor Goff’s book by any
critical measure is a propaganda piece on behalf of the central bureaucracy of the
European Union’s efforts to force the European nations into federalist and
centralized government shoes. The professor’s book fails to question, but
confirms a thousand years of false flag events as it plays up the role of
agriculture and virtual reality and plays down the role of the forest in the
rise of a virtual and violent Western Europe. Out of some 200 pages, only a
half a page is devoted to the role of the wood, with nary a word about
deforestation and the replacement of former forest lands with cities made of
concrete on a foundation of sand.
Though
amateur historians among Latvians are many, all have been side tracked into
seeking a ‘glorious’ and romantic ancient past. No one has deviated from the
linear history decreed by academicians or taken the side of such allegedly ‘pseudo’
historians as Morozov
of Russia. One may only speculate why dissent among Latvijans is virtually
nonexistent and political correctness such an overwhelming phenomenon.
Perhaps the will of the political
leadership among the Balts was at some point intimidated to such an degree that
scholarly cowardice became a tradition at one with the interests of the ruling
class. The latter is surely interested in minimizing the legitimacy of the
Commons and deemphasizing its right to be if its own interests are preserved
and are not threatened. Thus, there has emerged a ‘deep’ political class of
ruling interests identified with patriotism.
And who but ‘terrorists’ would take
a stand against patriots?
For
this reason, government officials are always more patriotic than the Commons,
which ‘more’ is almost always putting down the Commons as populist nonsense. This
observation describes the Latvian government perfectly.
Consequently the lack of concern by
the Latvian government for the community it is purported governing is a legend
that awaits debunking. But can the debunking be done? Already some of the
highest paid officials of the EU (according to a study by UK
Independence Party (UKIP) are Latvians jealously guarding the staircase
of their ascent by keeping Latvijan interests secondary.
The story about how
Latvija came to be is a story made of many stitches. This is not to say that
falsification of history is not a common practice among most modern governments.
Still, it is particularly obvious in Latvia, where lying has become a notable
skill . As suggested above, this may be because for a lack of other
opportunities to create a notable career, politics is seen as an opportunity to
climb the career ladder. Be that as it may, such a perspective necessitates the
monopolization of the public media with opinions* issued by government even in
an age when ‘freedom of expression’ by means of the internet and the cell phone
is said to dominate.
*’Government
opinion’ is a pseudo government document (study or poll) that purports that all
is well, even as living the life in the field gives evidence to the contrary.
One such ‘opinion’ is about the number of people who have emigrated from
Latvija to other countries. The government has insisted that the number does
not exceed 200,000. However, a former Latvian prime minister (Andris Berziņš) upped
(December 2015) that figure to 400,000. For its part the public feels
comfortable with the figure of 600-700,000—out of a once high of 2.6 million.
Though not a ‘scientific’ figure, but an estimate, it is accepted by the public
by noting the fact that some regions have lost up to a half, even most of its
populations. The practice of virtual reality has left certain areas of the
country practically empty.
Europe, as pointed out,
is the result of the terror of taxation, first imposed through a fur, and a
little later by a grain tribute by the Vikings. When the resistance to taxation
proved overwhelming, it was facilitated through the offices of ‘religion’,
which used its authority to equate taxation with the will of God.
The origins of Christianity,
the religion of Europe so to speak, emerged from people’s fears* that with the
destruction of wildlife and the wood, humankind had reached the End of Days or
the Eschaton, which is a word derived from eschatology.
*With the
arrival of taxation came demand for increased production, which, in turn,
facilitated slavery. As a result of slavery, humankind may have abandoned
temperate weather zones and settled in the intemperate or cold weather zones in
the north, which up to that time had been used mostly as grazing land for herds
of deer and elk in the summer time. In this instance, the real migrants were
not the people or herders, but the elites, who had turned the herders into
their slaves and therefore had become the owners of the animal herds that had
once been in charge of the herders. In other words, slavery permitted the elite
to settle in previously unsettled lands.
Needless to say, the
powers (largely Viking leaders-elites and their descendants) which called forth
the crisis (by creating and establishing economic inequality as a universal
norm) were eager to silence protests. This is why Christianity consists of two
‘religions’—early and late. The early is eschatological in nature, the latter
is a version of the former, but with the eschatological perspective* neutered by
edited holy scriptures and at last buried by the Westphalian Peace Treaty. By
eliminating eschatological Christianity, the Westphalian Peace Treaty turned
Christianity into a Secular Religion that gave rise to Communism, made Stalin a
saint for many, and turned Christians in the United States—at least for the
short term—into capitalists.
Because the Herrnhuter
movement in Livonia was the last of eschatolotical Christianity that could
trace its roots to the Bogomils and Cathars, it ought be grounds for studying
the means by which Latvians were turned from Herrnhuters into secularist
Lutherans and communist and capitalist lackeys.
As the above mentioned professor
Goff tells: “They [the Catholics] had built a superb pontifical palace there
[Avignon] and set up an efficient administration [through Church encouraged
terror] for Christendom, thanks to institutions largely financed by heavy
taxation”*.
*See “The
Birth of Europe”, Blackwell, p. 169.
Incidentally, the United
States is a creation of wealthy federalist elites, too. The creation, employing
violence and terror, was to incorporate all the states into a federalist
alliance, which would then be ruled from a centralized source of power. The
American Civil War was not of a freedom loving North fighting a slave owning
South, but of a capitalist and pro-federalist North fighting to eliminate an agriculturalist
confederacy in the South. While the enslavement of any human being (Africans in
America, as the case may be) is to be condemned and opposed, the ‘freeing of
black slaves’ has close parallels to the unleashing of ‘refugees’ of the world in
Europe today. What is being unleashed by unstable (because of economic
inequality) Western governments is rampant consumerism, not freedom—whatever it
may mean in an environment dedicated to make the rich richer.
Western Christendom is
indeed an institution created to facilitate the collection of taxes, which help
imprison the Commons, and creates an elite class by any number of misdeeds and lies.
See Romans 13:6:
“Therefore
it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for
conscience's sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers
are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.…” Are not the rulers
of the Western Christian Church presenting the public with lies that justify
taxation, supporting in the name of God profane governments, and fielding vast
bureaucracies (not least an Army) of State employees.
While huge sums of tax
monies are expended on modern weapons, a no lesser sum supports a system of socialism
(necessitated by the replacement of the countryside by the city), created to support
a subservient underclass that keeps the government class in power by voting for
it in ‘democratic’ elections. The innocent, such as the aged, are made guilty
through a device known as “aging as a profession’’. Through such naming, the agers
have become the chief supporters of a non-existent democracy by voting themselves
Social Security, while impoverishing their descendants.
The history of
post-Soviet ‘renewed’ Latvija is a ‘hasty pudding’ whipped up during the first
half of the 20th century by the then ‘new’ Latvijan intelligentsia
on behalf of an emerging neo-Catholic Lutheran Church, inspired by neo-Christian
runaway cosmopolitanism. Though less conspicuously, the Latvian State supports
and participates in the attempt of Western government intelligentsia to destroy
Latvijan peoples own autocephalous culture (born of the wood and the
countryside).
As the consequences of
the Westphalian Peace Treaty began to sink in on the citizens of 17th
and 18th centuries, some Lutheran clergymen tried to fuse the old
‘pagan’ (pa-Yan) remnants of eastern Christianity to the post-Westphalian times
by suggesting that the old Latvijan Johns or Love Festival was material for a
potentially new syncretic religion. The attempt failed, because no one dared to
imagine that Latvijan ‘religion’ was not embedded in religious dogma, but was a
matter of centuries and perhaps thousands of years of practice that had become
part of language and had nothing in common with an externally and violently introduced
Romanism.
The answer to the taunt: “Change
is inevitable”, is simple: just pass the baton to ‘democracy’, where every
political party will do what it can to ‘thingify’ its programs through Law in
such a manner that it will be difficult to ‘unthingify’, because the name of
the Thing has been code named ‘Civilization’. This coded ‘thing’ will be presumably be defended with
the force of arms until the end of time.
Most languages
originating with the people of the wood mitigated the tendencies toward
thingification by inventing alternatives through words that inflected themselves
into alternatives almost automatically. I am referring, of course, to the so
called diminutive or endearing words that are common in the Latvian, Russian,
and German languages, yet are practically absent in the English language. The
simplest example of dethingification is when John becomes Johnny instead.
By interfering and
denying the people participation in ‘religion’ of their own, government elites
became priests of a murderous secular civilization, which mimics religion in
ways that at times fools nearly everyone.* This phenomenon is at the basis of the
‘Schism’ that developed between Eastern and Western Christianities and has
carried over to the secular realm being evidenced in the conflict in Ukraine
today.
*It is common enough
knowledge that the heads of the ‘holy’ orders were brothers of secular kings and
lords, yet no further comment on the fact is ever made about the consequences
this had on Christianity over the long run.
The transition from the
East to the West, or the wood to the city, was accomplished through the intermediacy
of an authoritarian clergy, which was installed by military overlords. The
procedure fixed ‘official’ religion to the fabric of society with brutal finality.
A consequence of applying
brute force to the Commons was the destruction of languages in the East and the
West. In Latvija this process came to light as the Herrnhuters introduced a
demoralized Latvijan Commons to written language.
An article in the
bulletin of the Latvian Cultural Fund of 1989* describes Latvian as a language
lacking confidence: the writing was “…wooden and with sentence constructions
borrowed from the German. Some peasants were able to express themselves clearly
and logically, on occasion managing a lively and folksy style; [while] others
strung words together with great difficulty….” (transl. L.C.)
*A.
Apinis, “Brāļu draudzes un latviešu rakstniecība,” Kultūras Fonda Avīze, p 15,
1989. Could it be that this is why poetry was held in high esteem at this time?
Poets (possibly of Herrnhuter origin) organized the words of the ‘brayers’ into
short (four lines) rhyming verses.
What the ‘wooden-ess’ of
the written language indicated was (contrary to such famed linguists as Noam Chomsky) that the
language of the Latvian people was fluid
(lacked structure) while the upper classes strove to develop a language in the
image of academic precision. The latter, paradoxically, stultified the mind and
creativity, which if need be “borrowed from the Germans”. Latvian language of
the time was not bound to academic rules, which made it a grammarian’s Paradise*,
who made it unbearable to the listening ear.
*Latvian
grammarians assign fame to one J. Endzelīns, who is said to have set the
language into a proper grammatical groove. In reality, Professor Endzelins was
the equivalent of a fox let loose in a pen of lambs to put them in a straight
jacket.
Because of the apparently
‘wild’ nature of proto-Latvian culture the Western Church turned John (Jānis)
into a pagan (pa-yan), who was then turned into a wild man. In an effort to
tame the ‘wild men’ (the Herrnhuters introduced singing from notes and created
the justifiably famous countryside choirs. In an earlier time, German pastors had
described the singing of their Latvijan flocks as resembling ‘braying’. The
spoken language of the peasantry likely echoed to a similar sound.
Today’s post-modern and
post-Soviet Latvian culture, subjected to Pop culture, faces the opposite
dilemma. The Latvijan Johns Festival, with roots in archaic history of the
people’s Church in the wood, has become a content-free ‘fun’ and
‘entertainment’ event. Folk dancing that has become a de rigueur part of the festival (because lacking communal
familiarity necessary for a love fest, it would be boring) is a pseudo replica
of the Moiseyev Folk
Dance Troupe. The music, seldom ‘live’ in our days, comes from a recording.
Anyone who were to insist
that the Johns Days of Midsummer are part of ‘Holy’ days celebrating love, would
have to face an audience of disappointed foreign and domestic tourists. After
all, these have come to have ‘fun’ (jump over bonfires, drink, and if lucky get
laid) in a no less vapid cultural zone than the one they have come from.
For all the attempts, the
remnants of tradition cannot be tied together again, because bishops, scholars,
and amateur scholars, desperately bail a sinking boat, and have turned John,
likely the original Son of Man, into a pa-Yan
(a lesser Yon-isus).
If the invasions of the Vikings
are the root cause of the demise of the Balts, but a thousand years later no
one is the wiser of it, it is because the governments of the remnant of the
Balts have for all that time continued to kiss and polish—behind closed doors—Viking
shoes, and are more interested in running away from than facing up to reality?
In less rhetorical terms:
Why have the Balts not had the time to think about de-balkanizing themselves
and take a step toward becoming one people again? The opportunity exists if the
project of connecting the Baltic and Black seas and the Persian Gulf in an
economic zone* is taken seriously. Instead, the Latvian government is doing all
it can to encourage the Balts to hate the Slavs.
*The
Baltic + the Black Sea + the Persian Gulf economic
corridor. According to the map, a deal ought to be struck between the East
European nations and the sates that are part of the states belonging to the
Russian Federation and which are part of the states West of the Ural Mountains.
While obviously a lot of work needs to be done, it looks like a doable thing of
advantage to everyone involved.
