Angst 1

Angst is a German word for fear. What makes it unique is that behind the word stands an intimate association with guilt unto death. To have a dream and awaken from it with Angst is to have experienced death from which awakening is a miracle of sorts. This is the same Angst that has awakened the West and causes it to renew its old war with the East for fear the East will survive it.

As this link to Plato http://classics.mit.edu/Plato/republic.9.viii.html tells it: “... democracy, [which] is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder, and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequals alike.”

The Angst of this “charming form of government” is that the dispensing of equality to unequals may create guilt unto death. This motivates aggression in the ranks of oligarchs and their bureaucratic supporters, who act as executioners for their more equal than others employers.

When Angst appears unannounced, it is because 99% of the less than equal population, is rising like yeast in the fantasies of the oligarchy that constitutes no more than .0001% of the population. While the 99% wish to do no more than reclaim its lost God, it has to take that God away from the party of oligarchs, which seized control of that God for its personal use. While I have argued that the theft occurred as far back as a thousand years ago following the Great Schism between the East and the West, the loss of God to the 99% of Ludis now earns them the name of ‘terrorists’.

This is not to say that God has not been seized at various other times  in cultures and societies where the monopolization of God by one or another party may have gone unnoticed or was ignored. One such intermediary episode was when Friedrich Nietzsche announced that “God died”:

“Once blasphemy against God was the greatest blasphemy; but God died, and therewith also those blasphemers. To blaspheme the earth is now the dreadfulest sin, …!” (Thus Spake Zarathustra, Prologue).

What Nietzsche failed to notice is that when God dies and is replaced by Angst, the blaspheming of earth is not an improvement. Therefore, Angst tends to resurrect Eastern Christianity as it existed before it was squelched by the Christianity of the elites. This is an interesting phenomenon, heretofore not given much attention by either Eastern or Western Christian establishments, which define themselves by the frocks of their officials.

Apparently Eastern Christians had several episodes in which God died. This likely occurred before the Eastern Orthodox Church submitted to the dogmas of Western orthodoxy. One can deduce that Eastern Christian Ludis then substituted God who died with the Devil. They did this because they discovered that God as the Devil is better than no God at all. Whatever his faults, the Devil gave humankind the strength to dissent from the establishment, and fight for the restoration of such a God as had once been worshipped by angels of which the Devil is said to have been one.

In effect, when God becomes the property of Pope Francis of the Catholic Church, or Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, an early eastern Christian Sataniel (Saint + Yaniel/John) or Devil (Dev + velis = God + his ghost), aka Johannmed (John + healer), the Devil succors the dissident ‘Dev-vil’ in all of us. To the discomfort of orthodox believers and unbelievers, the Devil arrives the momen God is claimed by a select group for its exclusive possession.

Of course, we know that there are many fundamentalist believers for whom the written word is more important than the spoken word, and who will point to some passage in the Bible or New Testament and begin denouncing Antichrist. Fortunately Antichrist arises only when God has been appropriated by forces who prefer that He sits quietly not only on the throne, but on his hands as well.

This brings up the question—when has a rebellion reached a degree of energy sufficient to replace a stolen God with the Devil going berserk?

To give but one answer would play into the hands of atheists who wish God dead once and for all. This is why we need to have another look at ‘docetism’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docetism of Eastern Christianity. Despite being denounced as ‘heretical’ by letter bound Western Church, docetists continued to worship a ‘seeming’ incarnation of God, which ‘seemingness’ they explained to be a consequence of the spoken word. As I have already argued, a verbal culture is superior to a lettered culture by virtue of its flexibility. A spoken word has many inflections, whereas the written word may be inflected only by a priest or lawyer. According the Bogomil (docetist) understanding of the Word, Christ was born when He descended from heaven, passed through the right ear of the Virgin, and emerged in a bodily form that was not a body but its mask.

In our time we know that the docetists were right, because by virtue of a hologram, we are able to recreate a seemingly three dimensional verbal beings, which have no physical body that we may grasp http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2773135/Has-Julian-Assange-broken-asylum-interview-U-S-Nope-s-just-hologram.html .

Eso’s Chronicles 186/ 8
Postscript: Mono No Aware
© Eso A.B.

If the ancients knew of a time when the Sun was in danger of not rising, but the post-moderns cannot think of the knowledge any other than ‘ridiculous’, the post-moderns are ridiculous by the fact that in their time the Sun set before sunset and that the shadowless dusk they walk in is the light within the hologram of eternity: they are neither post-moderns or ridiculous, but simply the living dead.

There may be others, but for me the dream mirrored in Ingmar Bergman’s movie “The Seventh Seal” https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=mbgiWPJLSsM is a fitting recreations of this strange and unusual hologram; strange, because a hologram is space without time, a space where time is replaced by sound, where words once spoken as in a dream are no longer remembered. Eternity replaces itself by becoming a mother, a child, and a King dying to present them with the illusion that things make sense.

The sons of the four Suns—Moctezuma, Pentheus, Basil, and Clever John visited in the preceding blogs—are only a few of the stars that play on the moonlit stage at the Extinct Caldera Theatre.

Some of the performances are comedies, like the one starring the Kenyan actor Obama in Washington, D.C. A farce adds what is called Mono no Aware http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mono_no_aware or what the Germans call Weltschmertz. Surely, mother, child, and King need be on the stage and in the audience. The latter are to watch how mother and child are eternal, and how the King dies. A mix of tragedy and farce makes for half a step toward immortality. Though humankind never reaches it, the phenomenon gives it succor (a la: Mono no aware!).

But watch what happens when the King is played by Clowns—and Cameron, Dombrovskis, Hollande, Merkel, Obama and Putin, et al are among them. While claiming authority that arises from ‘lawful’ elections, where votes are said to have been cast by ‘real’, passported, and numbered voters, actual authority rests on the ability of governments to visit violence from within the realms of the virtual out into the real. Thus, ‘war crimes’ are not perceived as ‘real’, because they originate with such who live by ‘virtual’ reality. It is like the tiny hole in a brown hazel nut, which when cracked open may still contain something of the hazelnut, but tastes like wormwood if put to the bite.

So, while on grounds of habit and ‘common sense’ the triumph of the virtual over the real appears to make sense, in actual life it lacks real authority. Though the absence of authority may not bother some, the majority do not trust its absence to cause the Sun to rise in the morning.

The ‘real’ human inhabitants of this planet appear to be among the increasingly certain dead as the leaders of the ‘democratic’ order pursue their fantasy of ‘human rights’ within the shell of what once was a community. In fact, except for government sponsored aberrant communities of warriors for whom reality is realized when women are raped or paid for in a whore house, humans may be no more.

Therefore, if resurrection is not part of the story that Basil (perhaps also known as Prester John http://geography.about.com/od/historyofgeography/a/presterjohn.htm ) told his people, then perhaps rebirth or transmigration is. The latter may explain why it may coexist with the hologram as a timeless space—because ‘time’ is taken up by the present.

NOT-VIOLENT TERROR
77 Climbing Mt. Citheron (X)

"King Oedipus” is a tragedy, which as a play and a story has endured a misreading, the misreading leading to tragic developments for humankind as a whole. That we have come to read the story afresh and gain new meaning from the riddle it presents is the result of a confluence of occulted near and far historical events, a chronal moment and a confluence for the inner consciousness of a writer living in antiquity and our own.

The gyres of occultation, which have enabled us to see something so obviously before our eyes as to have escaped our notice for these many years, are partly related to such events as the death of innocents; bombs upending earth seconds and not many meters behind; the sight—mercifully from a distance—of cities burning; tortured bodies marching by imaged in the clouds; and not least, the stealing from the Latvian people, of whom I am one, the future. The latter is the end result of rule by a government with no ultimate sense of responsibility for the results of its deeds as government. The people, so commonly referred to as “populists” (why not equate populism with a form of “terrorism” then?), have been pushed to the periphery where government feeds on its livers without cost to itself.

The chronal moment of unriddling the riddle (likely related to the universe as a hologram) is driven by a necessity to acknowledge events we have been censured from noting to lasting effect, and, thus, have not been able to give the chorus of dissident voices “out there” an ear. Our necessity is the necessity for truth that comes to every dying entity on its deathbed—to live on through others. So, let it not be said that either Sophocles or myself have invented the story of King Oedipus, but that it has gone unrecognized for the lack in our civilization of self-sacrifice, which has brought us to a time when a majority of people on our planet, little Latvia including, have little more than their naked self.
The willful misinterpretation of the role of Oedipus in Sophocles’ “King Oedipus” is the result of a zerstoertes (disturbed) mind. The failure by the mind in our times to look beyond the immediate is as profound as looking over the ruins of Dresden and Hiroshima and not seeing them, and the inability to bring a Stalin, a Churchill, and a Truman even post mortem to court for war crimes. The ruinous events in what so many theatre goers have presumed to be an honest rendering of a tragedy (there was a Nuremberg trial, what else do you want?), turns out to have been Sophocles’ coded scream for help, but unnoticed for the presumption that what makes tragedy has no relation to government.

If “Tiresias’ Revenge” becomes a story of which the riddle went unsolved (for good reason some may claim) for two thousand years (Scaligeri’s chronology), it may contribute toward the removal of so-called “just war” from the bag of pardonable crimes and prosecute it from the perspective of past, present, and future self-sacrifices. Were this to happen, the onus will be on those who fail to acknowledge the equal signs between themselves and the victims as well as beneficiaries of their acts. At this time, the beneficiaries of the government have the power to ignore any call to responsibility. The payment in lives and life styles is still exacted from the weak for the benefit of the strong solely because the latter invented arms that kill at a distance. The mailed fist has for too long allowed a minority to remain in denial that it is the major cause of death of “others”.
The so-called ‘just wars’ are little more than those who are violent claiming for themselves a “more equal than other” status. As the killer drones in Afghanistan prove, the art of ‘just war’ has progressed to the point where the killer kills the victim as if the latter were a figure on a video game screen and the former no more responsible than a child for pushing the buttons in a gaming arcade at a shopping mall.

With death among the violent ones having been replaced by the doctrine of ‘resurrection of the dead’, death among educated “elites” occurs as if in secret still. Indeed, the violent ones have not only eliminated direct knowledge of the death of their victims, but knowledge of themselves as mortal beings. Sure, death remains a matter for tears among one’s immediate relatives, but the laws that tell that the body will upon death be taken to the refrigerator at the mortuary make sure that death remains invisible and will not trouble the dictatorship of positivism. No rulers of hegemonies where consumers are the core of ruling parties will acknowledge that they are the cause of death of millions of—let us call them ‘nakeds’. Such ignorance follows the same line of reasoning which during the current crisis causes governments to treat the most irresponsible banks institutions “too big to fail”, because failure means their fall from power as well.
The subject of violence and death presently discussed is not often met with in the discursive space of modern media. None of the “authorities” who have done and condoned violence has sworn an oath to die a conscious death, yet the same are said to be fully conscious and in alignment with the will of Allness when they send to their deaths millions. No “authority” in our day will extinguish his-her life through his-her own will—even if that is not expected from them sooner than old age—and will censor such a notion as suitable for public space.

The doctrine of self-sacrifice and the ability to extinguish one’s life comes from an imaginary that has expectations of a future in which a larger-than-life community creates an environment that enables it to recreate itself until forces beyond it—rather from within it—end it. It is from this itself that life beyond mere naked life community arises. It is from the larger-than-life community which is able to practice self-sacrifice that the potential of a continuum of self-consciousness arises.
If one wishes to create a hegemonic community, one has to be willing to help create the kind of charismatic bond that memory will not let go of. Death through natural causes may provide the original understanding for the desirability of such a charisma. Death as a result of a violent attack may confirm the power of death’s charisma. However, only self-sacrifice faces the charisma of death (some may wish to call it motivation) in full self-consciousness. This is why one must learn to project, then internalize an image that is powerful enough to displace the image of Jesus in the sky. Innocent as Jesus himself may be, his image was engraved into the vault of the sky by the physical violence of those who reject owing up to the notion that a fully human community can result only when its members have authority over their deaths. In the context of the neo-Christian secular order, which is founded on the high blown words vs the arch-Christian Johns seeking to live with the endura engraved as the grail on their minds, it is the former who die in their beds, while the latter if not dead by fasting, once managed to die on their feet. There are none like these in public space today, unless the space is not only subjective, but hidden, and if discovered is lied about. Hopefully, the solving of the riddle of “King Oedipus” will turn the tide and soon prevent the rule of lies.
